Tools and Resources for PS Bazooka

What you might need to complete PS Bazooka

This is a multi-format puzzle game intended to be a springboard for ARG style puzzle solving. This document is a list of resources that can be used to solve each puzzle in the sequence. While I do not provide any solutions here, I do consider these spoilers. Please tread carefully and try to solve the game yourself first!

To complete this game, you will need: Permalink to this heading

  • A QR code scanner. These are built into most phone cameras now.

  • An email client. I do not collect any email addresses used with this game, and all mail sent as a part of the game is deleted immediately automatically by the system. You don't need to feel weird about sending mail for this, but if you do, I recommend making a new free mail account explicitly for this game.

  • A way to decrypt AES encryption. You can use the free and open source https://it-tools.tech/encryption for this.

  • A tool for retrieving steganographically hidden information in images. OpenStego is free, open source and multiplatform.

  • A tool to retrieve steganographically hidden information in audio. REAPER (free trial) and Audacity (free, open source) can both do this.

  • A means to play DOOM wads, but not a copy of any DOOM game. DoomRunner combined with UZDoom is the setup I tested for this game, and the one I recommend. Instructions and a free iWAD are provided to eliminate the need to buy DOOM.

  • 7-Zip, which is required to open a multi-part archive that is encrypted.
