Permalink for RamblingSome thoughts on recent goings-on in TK-web and The Worst Garbage
I've got a few things I wanted to write about, but none of them really feel big enough to be a whole post, so we're making a smorgasbord today.
The New TK-Web, One Div at a Time Permalink to this heading
As you may have noticed, TK-Web looks a bit different now. The blog will continue to be built via Hugo for the time being, and will be served on the blog subdomain. The rest of the site, however, has been moved to a new static, hand-written HTML format. I decided to make this change because it would give me more flexibility in the future to format the pages there however I want. It also provides me the benefit of a playground to learn HTML and CSS. You'll notice that all of the static pages that used to be in the menu above are gone, replaced with a single link to the homepage. I may look into re-adding links there in the future, but it won't be soon.
The Worst Webring Permalink to this heading
Another new feature of TK-web is The Worst Webring. The webring is built with the intention of being an opt-in collective of websites made by the members of The Worst Garbage Online's community. It's opt-in, so it's relatively empty for the time being. If you're a TWG member and are interested in joining the webring, please let me know!
A Year of Podcast Permalink to this heading
The Worst Community Report is a year old! A year ago, Jared, Bluzo and I decided that it would be a fun joke to release a podcast while Into the Aether was on hiatus. We had so much fun making the show that we made it a real thing. We recently made some changes to our lineup and our release schedule, but we have no intention on stopping anytime soon. There's a lot that I would still like to do with the show and I feel like the biweekly cadence is going to help a lot with it.
New Event in TWG Permalink to this heading
A thing I've wanted to do for quite a while but haven't had the bandwidth to do has been running multiplayer play sessions. It feels like something that a lot of communities have happen just through the culture that they have, but for TWG, outside of a few specific instances, folks don't do a bunch of multiplayer gaming. I believe that it will be easier to actually have things happen if we specifically set aside time to do it, so that's what we're doing. For the inaugural event, we're playing Unreal Tournament 2004. I've already gotten some suggestions for other games to play, but the selection of future games will be formalized next week. It seems like we've got a fair amount of traction, so I'm hoping this will become a staple for the community.
